Girl Gains is a national organization for college students of all fitness levels and gender- identities.  The mission is to empower women and support them on their fitness journeys, promote weight lifting, and to create a judgement- free zone.  The SUNY New Paltz Chapter was founded in the spring of 2022, while the National Organization was founded in 2020.
As the Director of Marketing and PR for the SUNY New Paltz Chapter of Girl Gains, my responsibilities were to spread and promote Girl Gains through Instagram and other social media outlets as well as carry out Girl Gains' mission, core values, and vision.  With ownership of the club's Instagram account, @npgirlgains, I was the main point of contact in the organization for the members and other accounts.  With that, I responded to all direct messages received on the Instagram account, interacted with followers and commenters, and stayed in contact with National Girl Gains (@girlgains.co).
Most members heard about Girl Gains through Instagram, so I was responsible for making all of the posts for events, updates, inspirational quotes, and member recognition.  Additionally, all posts needed to be aligned with those from the National Girl Gains Instagram so the organization remains cohesive.
Through this position I was able to increase membership and involvement, spread the Girl Gains message and values, and cater to all followers while keeping good engagement on the Instagram account.  I learned how to use the insights on Instagram to benefit the account, such as when the best days and times to post are as well as which type of content received the most engagement.
